I am a dynamic, culturally innovative social work and research professional with 15 years of clinical training, assessment validation, and progressive international advocacy and community organizing experience. I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from University of Louisville; a Master’s in Social Work from Louisiana State University (LSU), and I'm a current Ph.D. student of Social Work at LSU. I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Exposure Therapy, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (E-FFT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy (BSFT), and mindfulness-based practices. My specialized coaching skillset include but is not limited to behavior modification; interpersonal skills training; emotion regulation skills training; progressive relaxation; thought restructuring/reframing; and mental toughness. I've held leadership positions as the Lead Medical Social Worker, Therapist, and Task Supervisor on the Adolescent Unit of a local New Orleans psychiatric and substance abuse treatment facility. I have also served as the Mental Health Program Director of the Mindful Men At-Promise Program (MMAP) for at-risk male youth in Louisville, KY partnered with Louisville Metro Police Department and the University of Louisville Center for Mental Health Disparities. Additionally, I was appointed as the Co-Lead Principal Investigator across three minority mental health research studies: Screening Aggression Violence Expression (SAVE) Project; Community and Family Excellence Project; and the Multi-cultural Family Project.
