Getting to know Erica Helzer

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois Chicago. With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I am fully committed to my passion for working with adults and couples. I especially love working with couples and helping them find effective ways to love and respect one another. I have counseled hundreds of couples through the storms that roll through marriages. Conflicts are unavoidable in relationships; it is how you handle them that will make or break a relationship. I provide couples with tools and insight to navigate those conflicts. It is so rewarding to see couples find the connection and intimacy that was missing prior to seeking counseling. My approach to therapy is being “REAL” and not too clinical. Over the years, I have been told this is what clients enjoy most about working with me. I quickly develop a connection with my clients, which allows them to feel comfortable and safe. I’ve come to learn that clients prefer someone they can relate to who is open and honest.
