Erica Lima, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NC
My work centers on attachment and relationships. Whether that's helping people reconnect to themselves, heal attachment wounds or build new relationships. We'll get to know the parts of yourself that may have been silenced, hidden, or shaped by survival. Together we'll reconnect through somatic-based therapies, IFS parts work or deeper exploration using psychodynamic theories. Where you can explore your inner world with curiosity, not judgment. I support people navigating the visceral and physical impact of complex trauma, anxiety, perfectionism, religious harm, and deep feelings of disconnection—often showing up as nervous system dysregulation, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or a fear of being truly seen. With over a decade of experience in community mental health, residential, and private practice settings, My practice is guided by anti-oppressive, social justice-centered values, and I bring humility, humor, and deep respect into the work. Whether you’re longing to feel more at home in your body, your relationships, or your story—I’m here to support your process with care and compassion.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have worked over 10 yrs in community mental health organizations, residential treatment centers and outpatient/private practice settings. In those years of experience, I have supported many people through complex trauma, PTSD, dual diagnosis, anxiety, depression and mood disorders. I frequently walk alongside people who are yearning to understand themselves more fully and ready to embark on their self discovery and liberation. I practice from a relational, trauma-informed & anti-oppressive lens. This means we recognize systems of oppression & the harm they cause marginalized communities in society & the essential value of creating safe anti-discriminatory practices in the therapy space. I center an attachment-based, relational modality at the center of the therapeutic relationship.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin by building trust and safety in the therapeutic space. This may also look like exploring what you prefer in the therapy space (more space to inquire and explore, or more direct feedback). As time progresses, we might integrate a deeper awareness to body sensations, emotional experiences, your voice/needs as well as getting to know your own history, wounds and experiences that have shaped you.
