Erika Acosta, LMHC, MS

Psychotherapist
FL
I’m Erika Acosta, a Board-Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Life Coach, and Yoga Instructor. I specialize in helping children and adults with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. My approach combines evidence-based therapies with yoga and Ayurveda, to promote healing and balance for both the mind and body. My area of focus was shaped by my personal experiences with anxiety and depression, which stemmed from difficult life events. Overcoming these challenges has inspired me to help others navigate similar struggles. I have worked in clinical, school, and private settings, which have broadened my perspective and skill set. My journey includes completing a Master's in Psychology at FIU and a 200-hour International Yoga Teacher Certification in India, followed by a backpacking pilgrimage to further knowledge on Ayurveda and Buddhist Philosophies, all of which have deeply influenced my approach to therapy, blending mental health and holistic practices to support healing and growth. As a yoga practitioner and novice surfer, I believe we are all lifelong students. I am deeply curious about the mind, neuropsychology, and holistic healing through food, plants, and nature. Committed to fostering healthy thinking, I continually expand my knowledge by advancing my yoga education and staying informed about evidence-based treatments. This curiosity drives me to explore new ways to support healing and well-being, both for myself and the people I work with, ensuring a well-rounded approach to personal and professional growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My intake process involves exploring your current symptoms and creating a personalized plan to address the most significant challenges identified. Progress is measured by your ability to understand and recognize your symptoms, knowing their impact, and developing healthy coping skills for managing them. I work with individuals of all ages, including children (6-12), adolescents, and adults. Additionally, I am fluent in Spanish, which allows me to connect with a broader range of clients and provide culturally sensitive care. My goal is to empower clients to manage their symptoms and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
