Psychotherapist
CA
Hello! My name is Erika Brinda. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 13 years of experience. I love being a therapist and truly appreciate the work that I do. I enjoy working with a diverse population and practice therapy with cultural humility. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California, which has provided me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively. My approach I use a variety of theoretical approaches and prefer to meet the needs and preferences of my clients. I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing produce great results in a short time. My focus I work with the entire lifespan but prefer adults. I have experience treating depression, anxiety and panic disorders, trauma, sleep issues, adjustment disorders, divorce and family stressors, and mood disorders. My communication style I strive to ensure each client leaves feeling heard, understood, and respected. I ask for direct feedback about their therapy experience and use it to adjust future sessions. I want clients to feel confident we are aligned in addressing their concerns. My journey to therapy I am a former credentialed teacher. While working with an underserved student population, I wanted to work individually with students to better understand and help them overcome obstacles and succeed. Though I enjoyed teaching, I discovered my true passion was counseling, mentoring, and helping individuals get "unstuck." My goals for you I believe goal setting should be collaborative. I explain that goals provide a "road map" for therapy. I ask questions to help establish the client’s meaning or purpose for therapy. I work with clients to ensure goals are specific, clear, and address how their life will change once goals are reached.
