Getting to know Erika Shira

I specialize in working with children, families, parents, and individuals who are (or are wondering if they are...) some combination of LGBTQ and/or neurodivergent. I have extensive personal and professional experience with families navigating court involvement and systems involvement. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I do not provide ongoing long-term therapy at this time. I provide short-term evaluation and psychoeducation services for those looking to access gender-affirming care, teens/adults looking for evaluation/clarification of neurodivergent status, and those looking for other types of brief assessment (such as systems-involved families or individuals needing a formal mental health evaluation). I can complete an interview and records review for those looking to update disability documentation. I do not perform full developmental assessment of children at this time, but can consult with parents of infants, toddlers, and children regarding developmental or emotional concerns and can provide an initial evaluation and suggestions for next steps.
