Getting to know Erin Evanson-Lass

I’m Erin Evanson-Lass, LCSW-S, an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant. I earned my Master of Social Work from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, in 2010, and I’ve been practicing clinically since 2011. As a U.S. military veteran, I have a personal understanding of service, sacrifice, and the lasting impact that difficult experiences can have long after they happen. My clinical focus is trauma treatment, with specialized training in EMDR, attachment-based therapy, and polyvagal-informed care. I work with clients who are ready to explore not only what happened to them, but how those experiences may still affect their nervous system, relationships, emotions, and daily life. My approach is trauma-focused, attachment-based, and grounded in polyvagal theory. I believe therapy should feel collaborative and supportive rather than clinical or judgmental. While traditional talk therapy can be helpful, trauma often requires more than simply talking about what happened. I use EMDR to help clients process experiences that may feel stuck or unresolved while building greater safety, stability, and self-awareness. I tailor the pace and intensity of treatment to each client’s needs. We begin by establishing safety and stabilization before moving into deeper trauma work. In our first session, we’ll focus on understanding your history, what brings you to therapy, your past experiences with treatment, and what meaningful improvement would look like for you. My goal is to provide a calm, non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, share only what you’re ready to share, and develop a clear path toward meaningful change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My work is trauma-focused and grounded in attachment and the body. As an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, I help clients process painful experiences so they lose their hold on the present, rather than just talking about them. We start with stabilization and trust, and move at a pace your system can handle. All sessions are by telehealth, which works well for EMDR and trauma work and lets you meet from a space where you already feel comfortable. I'm direct and warm, and I'll always be honest with you.
