What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey who has a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and Human Services, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been working with children and families for over 25 years, mostly in the in-home setting. I also have a strong crisis background having worked in an Emergency Room for 11 years where I assessed and provided therapy to the suicidal/homicidal patients, as well as the chronically and persistently mentally ill. As a part of both settings, I have a very clear understanding of addiction and the dual role it can often play. I incorporate a person centered approach with other modalities of strength-based, solution-focused, family systems, trauma-focused, positive psychology, and mindfulness therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe the first session is an information gathering session, but you will also get to see that I have a great sense of humor and can create a safe place for you to be your authentic self. Following that session, a client can expect to create their own path as I am their personal tour guide meant to point out things along the way and bring forward potential blind spots missed and to challenge current ideals in an effort to bring an alternative perspective to how life circumstances are viewed and processed. I am eager to treat and assist any individual/couple/family seeking therapy for their own self-discovery and betterment.
