Psychotherapist
12 SE 14th Ave, Ste 1, Portland, OR
My therapy approach is client centered focusing on choice, strengths and exploration. I am committed to helping children work through issues such as anxiety, transitions, emotional regulation, peer relationships, family conflict and self-esteem. I work primarily with children and adolescents using play, art, sand tray and expressive art therapy interventions. I work closely with families who wish to strengthen their child/parent relationship to help better understand the dynamics that make up a family system. I also work with adoptees and LGBTQ+ youth who struggle with identity issues and help them learn more about who they are. As a former early childhood educator, I have learned that play is an integral part of healthy development. Through this natural language, I provide them with a safe space to explore their emotions and feelings. My nurturing personality helps them to become confident and comfortable with themselves. Understanding and compassion are at the heart of my practice. I am here to support your child's emotional well-being and development as well as strengthen your bond. Together, we can create a safe and nurturing environment where your child can thrive, heal and discover their inner strengths.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a clinician, I believe that the people who show up most for a child are powerful allies in the therapeutic process. I work alongside parents and caregivers as partners and collaborators-not just observers-because insight, love and consistency are what make lasting growth possible. Together, we create a warm, supportive environment where your child feels safe to explore, heal and build the kind of confidence that follows them beyond the therapy room. Questions of identity- who we are, where we belong, and how we move through a world that wasn't always built with us in mind- are at the heart of the work I do. Whether you're navigating life as adoptee, exploring your identity within the LGBTQIA+ community or carrying both experiences at once, this is a space that is affirming, nonjudgemental, and curious about your story. We'll explore your lived experiences, work through challenges within your current dynamics, and build a clearer, more grounded sense of who you are and how you fit into this world.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My work with clients goes beyond traditional talk therapy. While processing thoughts, feelings and emotions through conversation is a meaningful part of our time together, I also incorporate play, expressive arts, and creative modalities to open up other pathways for healing-especially for younger clients. Through activities like imaginative play, sand tray therapy, art or games, clients have the freedom to express and process what they're going through in ways that feel natural and safe. These open-ended, nonverbal approaches meet clients where they are, allowing them to communicate, regulate and make sense of their experiences without the pressure of finding the right words.
