Getting to know Ernest Murphy
Hi! My name is Ernest Murphy, call me Murf. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and I have always been fascinated with wellness and mental health. After a career in the Marines as an infantryman, I found my calling in the field of counseling!
My undergraduate degree is in Social Work with a Minor in Psychology, and I have a Master's degree in Social Work. I have an integrative approach to counseling, taking all aspects of the client into consideration because everyone is unique. I feel personally drawn to Systems Theory, Person Centered Theory and strengths based approaches.
I am very passionate about providing counseling services to high risk groups such as Veterans, homeless individuals, domestic violence survivors, victims of abuse, etc. I want to be a part of the positive change in mental health care, and assist in correcting the negative stigma associated with it via psychoeducation. I approach everything with a posture of curiosity, and I am thankful that this career will aid me in learning about different people, cultures and lifestyles!
