Psychotherapist
OH
Hello, my name is Eugenia Benson and I'm very excited to meet you soon. Together we'll start your therapy sessions and make sure you're feeling better as soon as possible. My ideal client is someone who is hopeful that therapy can help them better cope with problems and life circumstances. An ideal client would be a good fit with this counselor to better form a positive and productive counseling-client relationship. If we are a good fit, a successful outcome is more likely to occur and the client will be more willing to open up about life. My experience reaches many cultures and various personal identities. Therefore, I believe it is important to meet and greet with a potential client first, and depending on the age, gender, pronoun, and/or culture of a client, I can determine how I can help the client feel comfortable and then confirm we are a good fit. My experience in life and as a counselor is eclectic. Being a former nurse and now a mental health counselor, helping others overcome or learn to cope with the pain of life is one of my life strengths. A major life changing experience was losing my younger sister when I was 29 and it helped to me know I wanted to be a nurse. Once I became a nurse, I was often told I spent too much time with my patients. When circumstances changed and I needed to choose a new path, I decided to use that to my advantage and chose to become a counselor. I have worked with children, teens, young adults, and older adults. I have worked in addiction, medical rehabilitation, community health, behavioral health, and school counseling. Helping others use positive coping skills such as spirituality and self-talk to find hope and better cope with current life circumstances is what I love to do.
