“Evan is very patient and great at listening to concerns or anything you're going through, even if you're just rambling. Very nuanced but also asks for you to look within yourself and gives resources and an assurance that the problems you're facing emotionally can be regulated and do have solutions. ”

Getting to know Evan Guetz

As a licensed professional counselor in New Jersey, I specialize in supporting adolescents and adults through life's toughest challenges, including anxiety, anger, and emotional trauma. My approach blends traditional therapeutic techniques with mindfulness, EMDR, and nature-based interventions to offer a safe, non-judgmental space for healing. Whether you're navigating a major life transition, dealing with stress, or working through relationship issues, I’m here to help you reconnect with yourself and move forward with confidence. I have been working in behavioral health since 2012. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, summa cum laude, from Capella University, MN, and earned a Master’s in Mental Health Psychology with distinction from Capella University Campus Center. I’ve held various roles in therapeutic settings throughout my career and continually seek clinical training in trauma treatment. My experience includes home visits for troubled youth; community-based autism services across all ages; residential centers, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient settings for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues; supervision of peer-support services for professionals in recovery; supervision of therapists; community and private group practice outpatient settings; and consulting and training staff in social services for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS). I also volunteer as a Disaster Response Crisis Counselor for New Jersey DHS Division of Mental Health and Addictions Disaster and Terrorism Branch and provide Psychological Forensic Evaluations for asylum seekers through the nationwide Physicians for Human Rights Asylum Network. While I have learned much from all these roles, I gain the most insight from one-on-one therapy with people like you. I am inspired by, and look up to, the people I serve every day.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Person-center and strengths-based style, and evidence-based clinically driven approaches that deliver healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Standard outpatient biopsychosocial intake assessment (mind-body/mental-physical) to inform goal setting - Based on individual needs and goals for therapy, I used best practice models that I'm trained and/or certified in to treat and provide services for.
