I appreciate your interest in getting to know me. I'm Farhat Hasan, a licensed professional counselor based in Texas. I hold a Master of Education degree in Counseling from the University of Mississippi (2004) and an Educational Specialist degree from Mississippi State University (2016). I've been a counselor for 17 years, working both online and in-person, and have diversified my experience across various settings such as schools, rehabilitation centers, and group homes.
My experience spans from working in hospitals, clinics, schools, to rehab centers where I've honed my abilities and clinical expertise, giving me the capability to assist my clients in achieving their unique goals.
I've worked with people suffering from conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and anger management issues to relationship conflicts, drug abuse, postpartum stress, and trauma/abuse. Additionally, I've assisted clients with depression, mild autism, international students/spouses, immigrants, and second-generation immigrants.
My counseling philosophy revolves around acceptance - recognizing every individual's background, life experiences, and personal beliefs. By adopting a client-centered approach, I work with clients to help them gain insight, identify their strengths, and take swift action to induce change. Essential to this process is constantly monitoring their progress, offering guidance, empathy and, when required, challenging them to independently combat their obstacles.
Listening to and validating the clients' thoughts and emotions is my primary approach to helping them outline a plan and progress.
