Felix Murad, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
I am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in evidence-based treatment for OCD, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related conditions. My work is focused, structured, and designed for people who are used to solving problems on their own but have reached a point where insight alone is no longer enough. Many of my clients are high-functioning professionals who understand their symptoms intellectually, yet still feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, avoidance, or compulsive behavior. Therapy with me is not open-ended or purely exploratory. We identify what is maintaining the problem and apply targeted, research-supported interventions to create measurable change. I primarily use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR for trauma when clinically appropriate. I have extensive experience working with intrusive thoughts, including taboo, harm, and shame-based themes, as well as panic, social anxiety, and burnout. My goal is not to keep you in therapy indefinitely. It is to help you build the skills needed to regain control and move forward with clarity.

Getting to know Felix Murad

I am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in evidence-based treatment for OCD, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related conditions. My work is focused, structured, and designed for people who are used to solving problems on their own but have reached a point where insight alone is no longer enough. What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a direct, collaborative, and goal-oriented approach. I will not simply listen and reflect for 50 minutes. We will actively work on understanding what is driving your symptoms and how to change your response to them. Sessions are structured and focused on progress, not just processing. I tend to be straightforward in my feedback. That does not mean harsh, but it does mean honest. If something is maintaining the problem, we will address it clearly. At the same time, I meet you where you are and pace the work in a way that is challenging but manageable. If you are looking for purely supportive conversation without change-focused work, this may not be the right fit. If you are ready to engage in a practical, evidence-based process that leads to real improvement, this is where I tend to do my best work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with a focused assessment to understand your symptoms, history, and what has or has not worked in the past. From there, we identify a clear treatment plan based on your specific presentation rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. For OCD and anxiety, this often involves building a structured plan using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) or CBT-based strategies. For trauma, EMDR or other evidence-based approaches may be incorporated when appropriate. Sessions are active and skill-based. You will learn how to respond differently to intrusive thoughts, anxiety, or emotional distress, and you will practice these strategies both in and outside of session. We track progress and adjust the approach as needed. Most clients working on a defined issue begin to see meaningful changes within a relatively focused course of treatment. The aim is to create lasting change, not dependency on ongoing sessions.
