Getting to know Frances Sevilla

As a first-generation Filipino American therapist, I am deeply committed to inclusivity and creating a space where clients from all backgrounds feel valued and understood. I provide a warm, collaborative environment where individuals can feel heard, supported, and empowered to explore their stories without fear of judgment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach is integrative, grounded in person-centered and psychodynamic frameworks. I believe healing happens through authentic connection and self-discovery, while also exploring how early experiences and unconscious patterns influence present emotions, relationships, and behaviors. I believe they play a huge aspect in how we view our world. I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help clients develop emotional regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and practical coping skills for everyday challenges. Having started my work with college students, I developed a deep appreciation for the unique challenges that come with emerging adulthood—balancing independence, identity, relationships, and future goals. This experience continues to inform my practice as I help clients navigate life transitions and the pressures that impact mental and emotional well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As someone who has personally navigated experiences with anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges, I bring genuine empathy, insight, and authenticity into my work. I am passionate about helping people break the stigma surrounding mental health—especially within communities where it is often misunderstood or overlooked—and encouraging clients to challenge negative life experiences that have shaped their self-perception. I value the vital role of culture and identity in mental health and strive to offer culturally responsive care that honors each client’s unique background and values. I work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship concerns, supporting them in building interpersonal skills, improving relationships, finding clarity, emotional balance, and empowerment in their daily lives. Healing begins when we feel truly seen, accepted, and free to embrace who we are as human beings.
