Connecting with clients and hearing life stories is my passion. Designing a program specific to your style and identifying available resources allow clients to find peace. I've been a registered nurse and a psychologist for over 3 decades. My experiences and education have prepared me to assist with your understanding that inner pain, and making changes that can alleviate unwanted behaviors or feelings. I worked for many years in hospital and emergency departments. I established a private practice as soon as I was licensed and have done both nursing and psychology ever since. I earned a post graduate certificate in critical incident stress management and served fire/emt/medic/police department throughout New Jersey. I also work with many clients who are healthcare professionals. I am genuinely a lifelong learner both always looking for information or experiences that can alleviate suffering. What should a new client know about working with you?

My aim is to make you comfortable. Whether it's in person or telehealth I want you to feel you have privacy, support, and my full focus. My office is in my home so you won't have to explain to anyone you may run into in the waiting room/office building why you're here.I frequently text clients in between sessions with resources pertinent to our work. Nothing is an assignment. Rather I offer you a 'menu' of ideas and practices that clients may find useful in their healing journey. I believe our experiences, both from childhood and as we have moved through life leave us with lasting impressions. Understanding the origins of our thoughts, reactions and behaviors will be a part of our work. I integrate techniques that match your style. These include mindfulness, depth psychology, interpersonal and humanistic and hypnosis. I use cognitive and dialectical behavioral techniques which can help you develop new habits of thinking, feeling and behaving. There will never be any judgement here. What you say is absolutely confidential. I do not use electronic records so your information cannot be 'hacked'. I believe that connection is vital to healing. It is a joy to watch clients resolve life challenges, addictions, anxiety and depression. And all over us have trauma's that can create lasting wounds. (in the word of Gabor Maté..."these may be trauma's with a little t, or a bit T"). I'm comfortable with all of it. If I can't help you I probably know someone who does specialize in your concern. I believe psychotherapy is essential to living a peaceful and fulfilling life. It takes time, effort and diligence. It's worth it. As Socrates said "An unexamined life is not worth living." No matter where you are in life, give yourself the gift of therapy

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach integrates biology, psychology, social connections, and spiritual aspects life. We will have a conversation that leads to the relief of your concerns. I am fluent in profanity and I curse in sessions on occasion. So expect some salty language. I'm not big on labels unless they clarify a direction for treatment. If you would like a diagnosis, I am happy to explain the diagnostic process used in psychology and to share my impressions. I expect that my clients have googled many mental health symptoms and have their own ideas about their diagnosis. I keep my fee's as low as possible ($145 - 55 minute sesion) because I understand the limited options through insurance and with deductibles and co-pays therapy is a significant expense. I begin the first session with the question "how can I be helpful?" I collaborate with you. I practice unconditional acceptance of you, the world, others and myself. I learn every day. Some people come for just several sessions, others attend therapy for several years. Some often take time away from therapy and call after a few months. I do recommend that if you are experiencing a pressing concern we meet weekly or at least bi weekly until you're feeling more balanced. I am available to you and I encourage you to reach out. This is a concierge practice and your experience will be tailored to your needs, goals, and learning process. The process is interactive.
