Francis Bax, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
I am Fran Bax, holding multiple designations including MS, LMHC, LPC, and CASAC-Master. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Master Level Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor in NY, with an additional license as a Clinical Professional Counselor in Nevada. I have over three decades of clinical know-how, initially focused on mandatory and forensic population therapy, and counseling individuals with substance addictions. Presently, my practice is broad-based, including mental health issues like depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, career challenges, abnormal behavior disorders and more. I assist clients in dealing with physical trauma, emotional abuse and sports-related mental blocks as well. Currently, my effort is to encourage clients to adopt healthier behaviors and create happier lives. My techniques are grounded in contemporary, evidence-informed models. I earned my master's degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Canisius University, Buffalo, NY, in 1996. Currently, I operate my all-virtual counseling practice,"Peace, Love, and Counseling by Fran", from my cozy home's spare room. My career route was influenced by my wife Patti, a 40-year veteran in the substance use treatment field. My initial ambition was school counseling, but a local child and family mental health clinic close to my residence changed this. I was scouted while on a walk with my dog and I joined their team, starting with helping children dealing with juvenile delinquency. This ignited a passion towards counseling those with abnormal behavior disorders tangled with the law. In my spare time, I enjoy bowling, teaching human service classes, providing tech support and supporting my favorite National Lacrosse League teams, and I appreciate a good contemporary music concert.
