Frank Thewes, LCSW

Psychotherapist
1 Nami Ln, Ste 1, Hamilton, NJ
I have been using a combination of talk therapy and EMDR with great success with my clients. Most clients come to work with me to resolve issues around trauma, anxiety, relationships, and identifying and reducing triggers and blocks in daily life. I have over a decade of experience working successfully with people from many different backgrounds. I don't work with everyone who inquires. I make sure I feel there's a good fit for your needs and my skills. I also limit the number of clients I see to focus on quality over quantity. Therapy doesn’t have to be boring or feel like work. My goal as a therapist is to have a great conversation with you and try and help make the hard work seem less difficult, feel less painful, and even sometimes make it enjoyable. I view it as my responsibility to use my empathy, experience, personality, and even sense of humor as tools to help you make your breakthroughs in therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

No matter how qualified a therapist is, if you don’t feel comfortable with them, you may not get the most of your time and energy spent in therapy. I engage my clients from the very beginning, acting as a partner on your path forward. I offer a conversational, friendly style that blends approaches depending upon on your individual needs. I also offer busy people high-feedback sessions if they seek a more direct approach. I have worked with clients from all walks of life and all backgrounds. It has been a privilege to meet and work with every single person, couple, and family that I have known in my career. I look forward to seeing clients each day and consider myself lucky to be able to work in this field. A wonderful supervisor of mine once said years ago that being a therapist is the best job in the world. I agree with her 100%. When I go to work each day I get to be a resource and a support for people who are looking to heal, clarify, redesign, and make important changes in their lives. I strive to bring this energy to each and every individual I work with.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You need therapy that works for you. Not just talk—but real healing. Therapy that works as hard as you do every day to get up, hold it together, and keep moving forward—even when you’re running on empty. Anxiety. Depression. Relationship stress. Work pressure. Low self-worth. Trauma. Perfectionism. Burnout. It’s not just one thing—it’s everything. And it’s exhausting. Especially when you’re still carrying the invisible weight of past experiences, early relationships, and the messages they left behind: I’m not good enough. I’m unlovable. I don’t matter. That weight drains your emotional battery before the day even begins. And still, you show up for everyone else in your life. But who’s showing up for you? That’s where we come in. How do we help? We use a center-out approach—starting at the core of what you’re really feeling, not just the symptoms on the surface. We go to the root. Feelings like powerlessness, rejection, shame, and worthlessness that quietly shape your thoughts, choices, and relationships. By working from the inside out, we apply tools that help you heal at the source, so you can regain control over how you think, feel, and respond. You begin to choose your behavior—instead of running on emotional autopilot. This is therapy for people who are done pretending they’re fine. You don’t have to carry this alone anymore. Let’s work together to clear the noise, reconnect with your strength, and build a life that finally feels like your own.
