Getting to know Gabriella Ficarra
How often do you feel weighed down by your emotions? Do you find yourself struggling to accommodate your mental health needs? In therapy, I strive to empower my clients by helping them develop their confidence and voice to overcome their struggles. Your mind will guide us on this safe and collaborative journey to a personalized path. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and a Master's in General Psychology, both from Adelphi University. Having experience as both a therapist and client, I can attest to how important mental health is.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I am a Mental Health Counselor Limited Permit Holder in the State of New York. I graduated from Adelphi University with two Master of Arts degrees, one in General Psychology and the other in Mental Health Counseling. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, and substance use as well as others. I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ and transgender clients. As a therapist, I strive to provide individual support and guidance while validating your mental health concerns. I will meet you where you are mentally and allow your voice to guide our therapy sessions. Let’s start this journey together!

I absolutely love and adore Gabriella! She is kind, understanding, and never once made me feel unheard. I've noticed a great change in myself, for the better, since working with her. She challenges you (in a positive way) while giving you the tools to really do the work and offers solutions/alternatives to really make the progress. There was true value in our work together and I couldn't be happier or more proud! So grateful for her

She was terrific. Very understanding but also very firm in her advice. Substance abuse is a tough thing to address but she really gives encouragement and doesn't allow excuses. Both are needed. I've been sober for over 2 years now after seeing her. She's terrific!

Mrs. Gabriella is the best therapist ever. She is insightful, caring, and professional. I look forward to my sessions seeing her because I know I’ll walk away with a better understanding of myself and with the tools I need to handle difficult situations. I always leave my sessions feeling as if I have accomplished something. She is clearly someone who is passionate about what she does and she does it extremely well. I could not ask for a better therapist!

Gabriella has such a warm and welcoming aura from the very first time I had a session with her. Her capacity to relate things from her patients personal life with her owns adds to a deeper reorganization that many seeking therapy need: to not only be listened too, but seen in its entirety. Their vast knowledge and experience on various topics also aids onto this, but having experience to help with even things around LGBTQ+ topics is very validating especially from my own experiences as a queer patient.
To add on to this, her ability to cascade a safe space to make you as comfortable as possible so it feels less like you're talking to a robot with planned responses, but an actual human being with the tools to help you for your own growth. With such a wide range of tools at her disposal, I look forward to my therapy sessions, and I hope others can too.

Our son was having a very hard time when he began seeing Ms. Gabie. The patience, support and understanding he received from her allowed him to work through what he was experiencing in a way that helped him to build his confidence, respected his voice and allowed him to feel empowered. As parents, we are glad that we made the decision to seek help for our son and are grateful for the support and tools that Ms. Gabie has provided us with in order for us to help our son as he works through obstacles that he may face.
