Greetings, I'm Gabrielle Bates, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Addictions Counselor. I hold the highest levels of licensure in both sectors and for the past ten years, I've been committed to comprehending individual psychology.
My path towards this career was not straight-forward. I initially aspired to be a doctor but soon realized my true calling was understanding people in their entirety. I discovered my passion at my university’s interpersonal violence resource center where I advocated education around trauma and abuse while supporting survivors. It taught me the value of being completely present with someone in their agony and walking side by side instead of leading.
I graduated with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Chicago in 2020, specializing in trauma, personality disorders, and substance use. I utilize an attachment-based, trauma-informed approach and strongly believe that the complexities of who you are, make perfect sense. Specializing in EMDR, I have advanced training in working with dissociative disorders.
Away from counseling, I'm an avid Dungeons & Dragons player, enjoy knitting, and have a cat and dog who, amusingly, think they're in charge. My interests range from video games, board games to exploring quaint Colorado mountain towns. I'm a frequent visitor at The Black Sheep and Vultures, catching my husband's prog rock band.
