What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and conversational. I want clients to feel comfortable being themselves and discussing their experiences without fear of judgment. I believe building a strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of creating meaningful change. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brought you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to accomplish. From there, we'll work together to develop goals and an approach that fits your individual needs. My style is supportive but also direct when appropriate. I believe therapy involves more than simply talking about challenges. It's also about gaining insight, recognizing patterns, developing practical coping skills, and finding new ways to approach difficult situations. I'll encourage you to reflect, ask questions, and actively participate in the process while respecting your comfort level and pace. Above all, I want therapy to feel like a safe, supportive space where we can work together toward the changes that matter most to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically begin with an initial session where we'll discuss what brought you to therapy, explore your background and current concerns, and identify what you hope to gain from the experience. This also gives us an opportunity to get to know one another and discuss any questions you may have about the therapy process. In ongoing sessions, we'll usually start by checking in on how things have been going since we last met, including any challenges, progress, or changes you've noticed. From there, we'll focus on the concerns that feel most important to you. Depending on your needs, sessions may involve processing emotions and experiences, identifying patterns in thoughts and behaviors, exploring relationships, or practicing new coping and communication skills. I also believe much of the progress in therapy happens outside of our sessions. When appropriate, I may suggest activities, reflection exercises, or strategies to practice between appointments. Throughout the process, we'll regularly revisit your goals, discuss what's working, and make adjustments as needed. My goal is to make therapy a collaborative experience that feels supportive, productive, and relevant to your everyday life.
