Getting to know Gabrielle Sanders

Hey! I'm Gabrielle Sanders, owner and therapist of One Step Closer Counseling, LLC. I'm from Kansas City, KS and it has been my dream goal to help my community with mental health awareness. I am licensed in Kansas with my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University. Prior to receiving my master’s, I graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a bachelor’s in psychology and a minor in education. I have training in dialectical behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care. I have experience working in substance use where I led IOP group therapy, a dual diagnosis group for women who have experienced domestic violent relationships, and specialized in addiction counseling, trauma management, and mental health counseling.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The name of my practice is One Step Closer Counseling because I believe healing begins with a single step. My therapeutic approach depends on what best suits the client’s needs but my specialties consists of a mixture of different modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and along with other interventions. When working together, my number one goal is to create a safe space for you to be your authentic and vulnerable self. You may not have the words to describe the emotions you are feeling and that’s okay, we will figure it out together. I will be beside you, encouraging, motivating, and uplifting you through this new experience
