Gail Horton, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I am pleased that you have selected me as your therapist. The following information is designed to introduce myself to you as your clinician. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor–Supervisor (#73701) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (#12114) with certifications as a Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Anger Resolution Therapist (#2524-7021). I hold an M.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of the Lake University (2010), a Chemical Dependency Counseling Certificate from the University of Houston (1999), and a B.S. in Psychology from Columbus State University (1981). I have 11 years’ experience as a licensed professional counselor and 13 years as a licensed chemical dependency counselor. My clinical work includes supporting children, families, and adults—particularly those involved with the criminal justice system—and treating anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, life transitions, self-esteem, and relationship issues. I draw on extensive family-systems and addiction treatment experience and tailor interventions to each client’s needs. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based. I believe each person’s “map of the world” is unique (Milton Erickson), and that therapy is a shared journey of discovery and change. I am culturally sensitive and welcome learning about clients’ backgrounds and spiritual practices to incorporate into treatment goals. Together we identify strengths, rewrite unhelpful narratives, and develop practical, client-centered solutions.
