Hello, I'm Gail York, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Southern California, working with clients statewide through Telehealth. I hold a Master's in Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino, and a Bachelor's degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I have over 27 years of experience in Mental Health and Counseling. I am also a Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work (BCD) and a Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor (CCFC). My approach My therapy is client-centered. I believe empathy, positive support, and a non-judgmental attitude are essential for effective psychotherapy. My theoretical approach is often Cognitive Behavioral, but I tailor methods based on client needs, including Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or Trauma Work. My focus I work with people from all walks of life, addressing issues from stress, anxiety, or depression to severe mental illnesses such as Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disorder. I also support victims of crime, domestic violence, and individuals with histories of childhood sexual abuse or adult sexual assault. My communication style I create a comfortable, supportive environment and meet clients where they are emotionally. Once rapport and trust are established, I use humor when appropriate to keep sessions from becoming overwhelming. Clients appreciate me being genuine and genuinely wanting to help. My journey to mental healthcare Since childhood, I have had a desire to help people. Personal experiences solidified this calling. Being part of someone's growth and healing is hard work and often emotional, but ultimately a joyous experience.
