Getting to know Gay Sherley

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and passionate mental health provider, my goal is to assist clients in problem-solving in a caring and safe environment. I believe that working together in a secure, supportive, and collaborative atmosphere will help you rediscover your strengths and provide a space that offers reflection, exploration, and discovery of new ideas. My therapeutic experience consists of working with both male and female clients, including children and adolescents. My professional training and counseling experience are in public and private schools, including clients from ages 5 to 18. I have experience working with individuals and families who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, mood disorders, oppositional defiant disorders, bipolar disorder, and domestic violence. My therapeutic approach is one that is holistic and views the client as an individual impacted by his or her own unique challenges and unexpected transitions. The treatment modalities utilized include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Social Skills training.
