Georgia Cope

Psychotherapist
1 E Superior St, Ste 306, Chicago, IL
Georgia Cope is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. What I love most about being a therapist is walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change. I strive to provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Human Relations from the University of Iowa and my Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago. Throughout my education and clinical training, I have gained experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in both legal and therapeutic settings. My background includes family systems work, reunification therapy, co-parenting counseling, supervised visitation, and child and adult therapy. In addition to my clinical work, I serve on the Professional Advisory Board for Willow House, supporting its mission of providing grief services to children, families, and communities. I have experience supporting individuals and families experiencing anxiety, life transitions, family conflict, relationship challenges, co-parenting difficulties, and adjustment concerns. I also work with children and adolescents using play-based and creative interventions while helping parents and caregivers strengthen communication and family relationships. My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and a strengths-based perspective. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed care, play therapy techniques, and family systems approaches to meet each client's unique needs. I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all and work collaboratively with clients to develop meaningful goals while exploring how past experiences and relationships may influence present challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I recognize that seeking support can feel vulnerable and consider it an honor to be part of each client's therapeutic journey. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, doing crossword puzzles, exploring Chicago, spending time with my cat Winnie, and finding creative ways to incorporate connection and play into everyday life.
