Psychotherapist
WA
Hi there, I'm Gerald! Greetings and warmest wishes to you on your Journey towards health and wholeness. I specialize in helping people heal from past trauma or adverse events; helping people go through grief and loss in a way that is personally meaningful and deepening; helping people face uncertainty and anxiety while keeping their center; helping people who are struggling with depression find purpose, meaning and a reason to get up in the morning. While I am trained and have experience in several different modalities, the bottom line, I am committed to responding to your needs as a unique individual rather than rigidly adhering to a particular approach. My approach My goal in therapy is to connect with you in a supportive and affirming way by being open and curious as I learn about your own unique story, formative events in your life, and your ways of viewing yourself and others and the world in general. I find the principles of mindfulness (being present with what we are experiencing lovingly and compassionately) can be especially helpful in slowing down our "monkey mind' and gaining a deeper sense of who we are and where we want to go. While I have training and experience in several modalities, besides mindfulness, I also find attachment theory, existential psychology, and humanistic psychology valuable in my quest to know you in the uniqueness of your story and experience. My focus I work with adults and seniors struggling with the emotional effects of past trauma or adverse experiences, including people going through major life changes and loss, such as divorce, loss of a loved one, or retirement. If you are waking up with anxiety and doubt about your future or just what will happen later in the day or tomorrow, or are experiencing guilt, regret, or distress about past events, I am here to help you address these experiences with compassion for yourself and thereby help you gain insight and some clarity as to your next step.
