Getting to know Gerilynne Mendez

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I am committed to providing a supportive, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered. I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, self-esteem concerns, ADHD, and relationship challenges. My approach is collaborative and tailored to each individual's unique needs, incorporating evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strengths-based interventions, and mindfulness strategies. My goal is to help clients develop practical coping skills, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change while fostering a strong therapeutic relationship.

What should a new client know about working with you?

From our first session, my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself. Therapy with me is meant to feel like an open, genuine conversation where you can speak freely without fear of judgment. I believe some of the most meaningful progress happens when clients feel truly heard, so I take the time to listen, understand your experiences, and meet you where you are. While we'll work toward your goals using evidence-based approaches, I also value authenticity and flexibility. Some sessions may focus on building practical coping skills, while others may simply be a space to process emotions, explore challenges, and celebrate progress. We work together at a pace that feels right for you, and I encourage honesty and open communication throughout the process. My hope is that you leave each session feeling supported, understood, and empowered with new insight or tools to move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is focused on getting to know you. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, your background, and what you hope to gain from the process. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether we're a good fit. From there, we'll work together to create a treatment plan based on your goals. Therapy can be short-term if you're looking for support with a specific challenge, or longer-term if you'd like to work through deeper or ongoing concerns. Sessions are conversational, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs, with space to process your thoughts and feelings while also developing practical coping skills and strategies along the way.
