You’ve been feeling “off” for a while now. Your life isn’t necessarily falling apart, but you’re not happy. You’ve thought about going to therapy many times, but then you end up procrastinating. You tell yourself you should be able to figure this out on your own and that therapy is for people with problems worse than yours. But lately, something has tipped the scales. Most of the time, you handle your emotions pretty well, but now it’s too much with everything you have going on. You’re stressed, anxious, or depressed. Some days you’re not even sure how you feel. I specialize in therapy for anxiety. I know coming to therapy can feel weird, especially the first time, so I try to keep it natural. My approach is holistic, taking into account your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I’m trained in several mindfulness-based approaches and have done additional training in meditation and yoga. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of South Carolina, which has equipped me with the skills to support you through your journey toward wellness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use primarily mindfulness-based approaches in my practice, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (a type of CBT) and EMDR (a trauma treatment). I have an extensive background in the integration of yoga and meditation with therapy and utilize those approaches if desired by my clients. I'm down to earth and very active and engaged in sessions. I love being a therapist and I've been doing this work for over 20 years.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to spend the first session getting to know you a bit and hearing about the issues you're facing. From there, we'll establish goals you're wanting to work on and map out a process for getting there. We'll always remain flexible, addressing whatever needs you bring to each session.
