Getting to know Gina Gattuso

I feel strongly in the ability to make positive changes in our lives. People strive to make connections, needing to be seen and heard. I enjoy working with individuals facing life transitions, including college and work, parenting, empty nest, and retirement. Helping people find new or revised purposes in life is deeply rewarding to me. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and am certified in Perinatal Mental Health. I am devoted to supporting those experiencing challenges specific to this unique time of life, including postpartum depression and anxiety, birth trauma, NICU experiences, and subsequent pregnancies after facing these struggles.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Adults 18+, individuals and family. Anxiety, depression, management of most mental health issues, family/relationship conflict, grief, parenting, life transitions including college age, parenting, empty nest and retirement. Certified in Perinatal Mental Health working with those struggling with postpartum depression and/or anxiety, birth trauma and NICU stays. I work primarily from a Psychodynamic approach using Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioral tools.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

For our sessions, the first 1-3 will be getting to know you sessions. I will want to get a full picture of what your struggles are and what your goals also are. I work hard to create a safe environment for you to share your struggles, hoping to make you feel comfortable doing so. Our sessions will be 50 minutes. I do primarily work within the psychodynamic realm with attachment theory often including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral tools at times.
