Psychotherapist
TX
As a teenager, I struggled academically and socially at school, trying to fit in with my peers. I had a hard time with my studies. Not knowing I had dyslexia caused me much grief. My mom and dad chalked my bad grades and attitude up to just being a teenager, but it was more than that. I was struggling with anxiety and self-doubt. This led me into abusive relationships and an eating disorder. After I worked through my issues, I decided I wanted to help people find their purpose in life. I have also worked with people who have struggled with anxiety and confusion over their sexual orientation. They struggle with how, if, or when to tell the world and their friends and family about their lifestyle. My job is to help you find yourself and to speak for yourself in a more positive and productive way. Having worked as a grief counselor for Hospice has also allowed me to understand grief and loss. I would love to help you through your journey. My theory of counseling follows a client-centered approach, and I believe cognitive behavior therapy is the most effective way to meet your needs. If you need an open-minded, understanding counselor, I look forward to hearing from you. Sometimes an individual may just need skills to move through a “life transition,” clarify life goals, and prioritize steps for reaching those goals. This is more of a coaching situation, and I would love to coach you through this life transition. I view the therapeutic alliance as a partnership requiring mutual trust, respect, honesty, communication, and commitment to do the work. I hold a Master's in Counseling from Wayland Baptist University and certifications in trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and anger management. I work by getting to know you as a person since you are the expert on your own life. I encourage growth, self-awareness, understanding, and self-care.
