Practice Details Anxiety and depression go hand in hand with stress. In today's time, stress does not function the way the body intended it to. With prolonged stress hormones coursing through our veins, we see our health deteriorate. We lose sleep, get sick easier, and sometimes have changes in our eating behaviors. In the long run, we can have more serious health problems including blood pressure problems, heart disease, and diabetes. Let’s face it, life happens and undue stress is often unavoidable. However, there is good news! When you take a proactive stance on managing your mental welfare, you can decrease your bodies’ response to stress and improve your chances of remaining healthy. My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy I believe that each person has the capability to live a full and happy life. I also believe that sometimes our circumstances present challenges that make managing through those challenges more difficult. Often times working with a counselor who is not involved in the challenge can provide a new perspective. In my opinion, it is human nature to occasionally experience conflict (either internally or externally) which inhibits us from successfully navigating through situations on our own. My Role as a Therapist It is my belief that you are the expert in your life and experiences. My goal would be to see your present experience from your perspective. Once we have come to a common place together we can begin to generate ideas and work through issues to help you come to the place you would like to be. It may be a more fulfilling life, managing through current struggles, or overcoming challenges from your past. I am committed to empowering others to live life with purpose and peace.
