Ginneh Akbar, LCSW

Psychotherapist
PA
I’m Dr. Ginneh Akbar, a licensed psychotherapist with nearly 20 years of experience. I help children, teens, adults, and families navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions with compassion, clarity, and care. My approach My approach is client-centered, strengths-based, and collaborative. I see each person as whole - mind, body, culture, spirit, and community. I work to create a space that is identity-affirming. I also ground my practice in a progressive, social justice–oriented lens, recognizing that the systems around us deeply affect our mental health. I combine evidence-based practices with compassion, humor, and real-world strategies, so therapy feels both safe and useful. My clinical space is fat-positive, sex-positive, and kink-friendly. My focus I work with people who are feeling the weight of anxiety, depression, trauma, and everyday stress. Many of my clients are navigating relationship challenges, family dynamics, work pressures, or major life transitions. Others are trauma survivors who are tired of carrying their pain alone. I especially love supporting children, teens, and families in building resilience and finding new ways forward. My ideal clients are people who are ready to face their struggles and want a therapist who will walk alongside them with honesty, empathy, and respect. My communication style I’m warm, direct, and approachable. I bring a mix of compassion and real talk, listening deeply while also offering gentle challenges to help you grow. Humor often finds its way into our work because I believe laughter can be healing. I want you to feel safe, affirmed, and seen, while also knowing that this is a space where we can be honest and real. My journey to mental healthcare I was drawn to social work out of my passion for supporting children, teens, and families, especially those who’ve been impacted by trauma.
