I'm Giovanni Castillo-Gomez, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. My journey into mental health has given me the privilege of working with active duty military members, members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community, veterans transitioning to civilian life, and individuals coping with trauma, addiction, and mental health challenges. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s in counseling and guidance from Texas A&M University–San Antonio, where I focused on understanding the complex ways stress, emotions, and personal experiences shape our choices. Through my work, I’ve seen that true healing doesn’t come from just pushing through—it comes from learning how to manage triggers, build healthy boundaries, and develop coping strategies that actually work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a holistic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral and person-centered approach to therapy, helping clients see the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My goal isn’t just to help you manage stress but to help you understand what’s fueling it—so you can break the patterns that no longer serve you. Outside of therapy, I find balance through painting, watching films, listening to audiobooks, and spending time at the coast. I believe that creativity and self-expression are powerful tools for healing, and I encourage my clients to find ways to reconnect with themselves outside of life’s daily pressures.
