What should a new client know about working with you?

It begins with assessment Our first session will consist of a 90-minute new patient consultation. This will consist of an interview between you and me. During this appointment, I will learn about what brings you to therapy, your symptoms, and history. Some questions I ask will be rather sensitive but is necessary to better understand your current circumstance and how best I can help you. The second and third appointments are 60 minutes in length and will continue with assessment. The third appointment is when I present my clinical formulation, which is a review of what I have observed in the clinical interview and review of your case history. The focus will be on linking your chief complaint, symptoms, and history to make the best recommendations to meet your needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Specialized in Dynamic Deconstructive Psychotherapy I am an advanced competency therapist in Dynamic Deconstructive psychotherapy (DDP). DDP is a 12-month treatment for borderline personality disorder, suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Additionally, DDP is now used for a wide array of other serious conditions, such as chronic depression and anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, dissociation, and alcohol and drug dependence. Research suggests that individuals having these diverse conditions have an impaired capacity to adaptively process emotionally laden experiences, attain a positive sense of self, and to develop authentic and fulfilling relationships. I am also provide Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT). EFT is a short term (8 to 20 sessions) structured approach, originally developed for couple therapy and based on attachment science. formulated in the 1980’s. Interventions in EFT integrate a humanistic, experiential approach to restructuring emotional experience and a systemic structural approach to restructuring interactions. A substantial body of research now exists on the effectiveness of EFT. This research shows large treatment effect sizes and stable results over time. Research exists for couples dealing with depression, with anxiety resulting from trauma, with medical illness and with forgiveness dilemmas.
