Glennis Peters, LPC

Glennis Peters, LPC

Psychotherapist
WV
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor(LPC) based in Huntington, WV, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I have worked with adults and adolescents and have twenty-five years of experience working with many mental disorders, including mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, and substance use disorders. My approach My approach varies based on the needs of my individual clients. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Cognitive processing, which are very effective with most people. My focus I have found that my approach works well with adults and adolescents who suffer from anxiety, depression, and trauma related disorders and teaches them a new way to think and cope with emotions. My communication style My communication style is empathetic, accepting, and kind. I want each client to feel comfortable so you can open up and talk about your thoughts and feelings. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a counselor years ago because I thought this would be the best way to help people work through problems and have a better life. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is to work with each client to identify what they want to accomplish in therapy and how we could improve their life. My first session with you My first session with you will be spent talking about what you have been experiencing recently and asking questions so I can determine the best way to help you. Also, it gives us the opportunity to connect and for you to feel more comfortable with the process.
