Hi, I’m Gloria, and I believe that healing happens when we feel truly seen, understood, and supported. I bring a compassionate, direct, and adaptable approach to my work, grounded in a genuine curiosity about each person’s unique story. Professionally, I have a Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Ohio University. I’m also trained in a range of evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My goal is to tailor treatment to each client’s individual needs, meeting them where they are with respect and flexibility. My experience spans over a decade, including running the Tribeca 12 outpatient center for the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in New York for three years. I currently serve as the Clinical Director at Acqua Recovery, where I oversee care for adults and families navigating complex mental health and substance use challenges. I’ve worked with diverse populations—ranging from individuals involved in the criminal justice system to people of affluence and high-achieving young adults—always with a focus on treating trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use. Outside of work, I’m a mom and an outdoor enthusiast who thrives on adventure. Whether it's hiking and mountain biking in the summer, or snowshoeing and skiing in the winter, nature is a big part of my life. I share it all with my two big mountain dogs, who remind me daily of the power of presence, patience, and play. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and I’m here to walk beside you as we navigate your unique path to healing—whether you're working through past trauma, managing anxiety or depression, or rebuilding your life in recovery.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is rooted in curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s individual journey. I like to dig deeper—not just into what’s happening on the surface, but into the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that shape how you see yourself and the world. I ask thought-provoking questions to help uncover insight and foster awareness, often challenging unhelpful thinking patterns in a direct but supportive way. While I bring structure and clinical expertise to our work, I also adapt my style to meet you where you are. Some sessions may feel more reflective and exploratory; others may be more skills-based or goal-oriented, depending on your needs in the moment. Regardless of the direction we take, my goal is always to empower you to connect more deeply with your values, build emotional resilience, and create lasting change. I believe therapy should be an active and collaborative process—and I’ll be right there with you, offering both challenge and support as you grow.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My Typical Process for Working with Clients: 1. First Session – Intake and Assessment: The initial session focuses on building rapport and conducting a comprehensive intake assessment. This involves gathering relevant background information, including the client's presenting concerns, mental health history, medical and family background, social support systems, and current functioning. I also explore risk factors, coping strategies, and any previous experiences with therapy or other mental health interventions. This session helps establish a baseline understanding of the client's needs and informs our direction moving forward. 2. Second Session – Collaborative Treatment Planning: In the second session, we begin to develop a treatment plan collaboratively. This includes identifying therapeutic goals and determining the client’s priorities. We explore what has worked well for them in the past, including strategies or support systems that have been helpful, as well as what has been ineffective or unhelpful. This insight allows us to tailor the approach to the individual’s preferences and needs. We also discuss the anticipated focus and length of therapy. Some clients may benefit from short-term, skills-based sessions that are goal-oriented and focused on symptom management or coping strategies. Others may be interested in longer-term, insight-oriented work to explore underlying concerns, patterns, or past experiences contributing to their current distress. This discussion ensures clarity and mutual agreement on the therapeutic direction.
