Grace Okugbere, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I am a self-motivated and progress-driven Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with 8 years of professional work experience. I hold a Master's in Counseling from The University of Texas Permian Basin and have an extensive background in Nursing, Organizational Management, and Small Business Management. Over the years, I have been driven by core values to become an essential agent of change. My experience comes from providing individual and group counseling for teenagers, kids, and adults with a variety of presenting issues, including LGBT-related concerns, depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, trauma, domestic violence, male incarcerated populations, and sex trafficking. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. My work experiences have allowed me to strengthen my abilities as a therapeutic, trauma-informed therapist, leader, and crisis intervention specialist. I approach therapeutic relationships with multicultural sensitivity. Most of my clinical experience includes working with youth and adults from African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic, and African backgrounds. I make it a priority to learn all I can to improve what I know and what I can offer to my clients. I believe this is one of the personal attributes that set me apart.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic approach draws influence from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). CBT helps individuals learn to be their own therapists through exercises in sessions and homework outside of sessions. Clients are helped to develop coping skills to change their negative thinking and behaviors. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy takes courage, and I am proud of you for starting to work toward a more fulfilling and happier life. I am here to support and empower you if you are ready to take the step.
