Gracie Berntsen, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) seeing clients throughout California via telehealth. I thrive working with adults wanting to learn more about themselves and the patterns they are living in. My approach I ground my work in a person-centered lens, meaning the client is the expert in their life, and I provide guidance and direction to help the client navigate their stressors. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize maladaptive thought patterns, along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to identify values and goals. In addition, I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) with bilateral stimulation (typically back and forth eye movements) to process stuck emotions and trauma, which can go deeper than talk therapy alone. My focus I specialize in working with young adults navigating life transitions and overwhelm. I have experience working with clients managing symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, grief, guilt, life transitions, low self-esteem, and childhood attachment wounds. I am a Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) and enjoy working with the perinatal population, supporting people through the tough roads of infertility, loss, pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, and beyond. My communication style I strive to provide a calm, supportive, non-judgmental space for my clients to share their feelings. I promote an open discussion where the client and I discover their unmet needs and process heavy emotions. My goal is to make sure the client never feels alone in their struggles. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been in the field of helping others. Through my work in the school system and with families, I discovered the importance of supportive relationships and one-on-one connections. I strive to help people feel safe and seen, as I know that is the key to authentic living.
