What should a new client know about working with you?

With over two decades of experience in the counseling field, I am a seasoned and devoted professional currently serving at ReachLink. My diverse and comprehensive background includes roles such as a Special Education Teacher, Psychology Instructor, Executive Director, Lead Therapist at an outpatient drug treatment facility, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor managing a Transition Caseload, and a Disability Services Counselor, where I provided assistance with ADA Accommodations for students with impairments. My academic pursuit in the psychology and counseling sphere began with earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Tuskegee University. I then advanced to Troy University where I obtained a Master of Science degree in Counseling & Human Development. Further deepening my expertise, I completed a Master of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling from Auburn University. As a testament to my dedication and competence, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the states of Texas, Colorado, and Arizona, along with being a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) recognized across all 50 states. My counseling practice extends to a wide range of specialty areas such as ADD/ADHD, Anxiety and Panic disorders, Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders, Bullying, Cultural and Ethical Issues, Depression, End of Life discussions, Isolation and Loneliness, Personality Disorders, Pregnancy and Childbirth, Prejudice and Discrimination, Self-Harm, counseling for survivors of Rape and Violent Crime, Trauma, and Workplace challenges. Over the years, I have honed my skills in several clinical approaches to therapy, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. My philosophy centers around meeting clients where they are in their journey. Together, let's embark on this transformative journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Going through therapy with a therapist can be a very beneficial experience for individuals who want to work through their mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being. Here are some steps you can take to make the most of your therapy experience: - Find the right therapist: The first step is to find a therapist who is a good fit for you. Look for someone who specializes in the type of issues you want to address and whose style matches your preferences. I hope I can be that person for you. - Set clear goals: It's important to have clear goals for therapy so that you and I are on the same page. In our first session, we will discuss your goals and work together to create a treatment plan that outlines the steps you will take to achieve those goals. - Try to be open and honest with me about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am here to help you, and I can only do so if I have a clear understanding of what's going on. - Trust the process: Therapy can be a long process, and it's important to trust that the work you're doing with me will pay off in the end. It's also important to be patient and not expect instant results. - Practice self-care: In addition to attending therapy sessions, it's important to practice self-care on a regular basis. This may include activities such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. - Keep an open mind: Finally, it's important to keep an open mind and be willing to try new things. As your therapist, I may suggest different techniques or approaches that you haven't tried before, and it's important to be receptive to these suggestions. Remember, therapy is a collaborative process between you and me, so be sure to communicate your thoughts and concerns along the way. With the right mindset and a willingness to work, therapy can be a transformative experience that helps you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life.

I never met with this provider. She was a no show. The staff apologized. I was told this has never happened before. I was also told that management is involved. Whatever happened didn’t sound good. I was give a list of other therapists to choose from. As I was told I would not be able to see the one I had chosen, in the future.
