“Guadalupe is the most incredible therapist I have ever had. As a person of color, a member of the LGBT community, and being gen-z, having someone who understands me at my level is important. She hears my concerns, matches my energy, and even calls me out when I need it. I was never a fan of “talk therapy” and I was reluctant to try it again after several past therapists, but having Guadalupe as my therapist has changed my life. I have been seeing her for several months now and I know I will continue to see her for a while. Although I started hesitantly, it has gotten to the point where I genuinely look forward to my sessions and can’t wait until I can speak with Guadalupe. I am so grateful for her and I cannot recommend her enough.”

Getting to know Guadalupe Valdez

Hi! I'm Lupita, a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) in Massachusetts. I graduated with my Master's in Social Work from Baylor University and have experience working with both adolescents and adults. I'm passionate about supporting people through challenges like anxiety, depression, loss, and especially helping LGBTQ+ individuals navigate their identity and feel confident in who they are. When I'm not working, I love spending time with my friends, family, and my dog, Nova. I enjoy writing poetry, getting lost in a good book, and finding new ways to unwind, like building LEGO sets. I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to feel understood and supported. My approach is all about building a strong, trusting relationship where you can feel safe exploring whatever's on your mind. I'd love to help you gain clarity and confidence as we work through life's ups and downs together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, know that you’ll always be met with compassion and care. I understand that taking the first step in therapy can be overwhelming, especially when facing anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to share, explore, and heal at your own pace. We’ll work together to identify the roots of your challenges and find practical, empowering ways to manage them. I tailor each session to meet your needs, so whether you’re ready to dive deep or need time to ease in, I’m here to support you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The foundation of my process is building a trusting, open relationship. In our initial sessions, we’ll talk about what’s going on in your life—whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief—and clarify what you hope to achieve in therapy. I use a variety of approaches, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and strengths-based techniques, tailored to your unique needs. We’ll focus on both understanding your emotions and developing coping strategies that empower you to handle life’s challenges. Each session will feel supportive and collaborative, with progress made at a pace that feels right for you.
