Gustavo Lozano, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there! I’m a licensed therapist in California with eight years of experience helping people work through anxiety, depression, grief, and substance use. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from San Jose State University, which has equipped me with the skills to provide compassionate, effective care. Life can be overwhelming at times, and my goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can process what’s going on and find a path forward that works for you. My approach is down-to-earth and personalized—there’s no one-size-fits-all in therapy. I use evidence-based techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and strength-based strategies, but most importantly, I meet you where you are. Whether you’re navigating big life changes, feeling stuck, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. It’s a space to explore, grow, and build resilience at your own pace. I’d love to support you on your journey—let’s take that next step together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is laid-back, supportive, and built around what works best for you. Some days, you might want real strategies to manage stress or anxiety. Other times, you might just need to vent and sort through your thoughts. Both are completely okay. I take a flexible, conversational approach—there’s no strict formula we have to follow. While I use evidence-based techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused strategies, I also believe in keeping things real, using humor when it fits, and helping you build on your strengths. You don’t have to be in crisis to start therapy. Whether you’re feeling stuck, dealing with tough emotions, or just trying to figure things out, I’m here to help you gain clarity and feel more in control. We’ll take it one step at a time, at a pace that feels right for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is all about getting to know each other—what’s bringing you to therapy, what’s been on your mind, and what you’re hoping to get out of this process. There’s no pressure to share everything right away; we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you. From there, sessions will be a mix of conversation, reflection, and practical tools. Some days, we might focus on strategies to manage stress or anxiety. Other times, we might take a deeper dive into patterns, past experiences, or emotions that have been weighing on you. I pull from different approaches, like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques, but we’ll figure out what works best for you. Therapy with me is flexible—some sessions might feel more structured with clear goals, while others will be open-ended, depending on what you need that day. No matter what, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Wherever you are in your journey, we’ll navigate it together—one step at a time.
