What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a licensed psychotherapist in California, holding degrees as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I’ve been in the field for over 40 years, working in various settings, including mental health clinics, residential facilities, psychiatric hospitals, emergency response services, and private practices. I’ve worked in professional positions in both Social Services and Behavioral Mental Health. Concomitantly, I’ve dedicated myself to be the best person I can be so that I may serve others. This includes a Spiritual Path, where I have completed a Doctorate of Spiritual Science degree. I don’t see this as a terminal degree as I will continue self-exploration to be the best person I can be with advanced studies. So, along with having a strong clinical background, I personally value all that I have learned in Spiritual Psychology. I will offer you practical solutions for living a healthy life, along with clear and concise ways to transform your life in profound and meaningful ways. This is offered without judgment and in a supportive atmosphere of loving and compassion. I will share with you my own professional experience, my personal growth, and the lessons I’ve learned from my spiritual journey while always focusing on you, where you are at, and your needs. Clinically, I will offer practical solutions to help you resolve issues quickly. This involves a reduction in stress and anxiety, how to have healthy relationships, resolving trauma and abuse, increasing motivation (reducing depression), letting go of addictions, building self-esteem, understanding dynamic themes in one’s life, and finding practical ways to feel good about oneself. I strive to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and ultimately to experience Joy. Let's create this together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Going through therapy with a therapist can be a very beneficial experience for individuals who want to work through their mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being. Here are some steps you can take to make the most of your therapy experience: - Find the right therapist: The first step is to find a therapist who is a good fit for you. Look for someone who specializes in the type of issues you want to address and whose style matches your preferences. I hope I can be that person for you. - Set clear goals: It's important to have clear goals for therapy so that you and I are on the same page. In our first session, we will discuss your goals and work together to create a treatment plan that outlines the steps you will take to achieve those goals. - Try to be open and honest with me about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I am here to help you, and I can only do so if I have a clear understanding of what's going on. - Trust the process: Therapy can be a long process, and it's important to trust that the work you're doing with me will pay off in the end. It's also important to be patient and not expect instant results. - Practice self-care: In addition to attending therapy sessions, it's important to practice self-care on a regular basis. This may include activities such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones. - Keep an open mind: Finally, it's important to keep an open mind and be willing to try new things. As your therapist, I may suggest different techniques or approaches that you haven't tried before, and it's important to be receptive to these suggestions. Remember, therapy is a collaborative process between you and me, so be sure to communicate your thoughts and concerns along the way. With the right mindset and a willingness to work, therapy can be a transformative experience that helps you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life.
