What should a new client know about working with you?

I look at the whole picture as we work together. We will get to know each other very well over time, and I pull in information from all of our sessions to help provide you with the best possible feedback. Depending on your needs, I may use different therapy models to assist you throughout therapy. We will also check in on what is working well versus not, so that I can make adjustments as needed to your treatment plan.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin therapy with a person by taking some time to get to know you, develop your goals for therapy, and create a plan together for how we want to move forward. I will assess in the initial sessions what approach will be the most effective for you and your goals, and make adjustments as needed. For example, if a more structured approach, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, seems like the best fit, then I will base our session in this therapy model. However, if you need someone to vent to or just need help processing the day to day stresses of life, I am comfortable being a listening ear and helping you learn more coping skills to handle those stresses as they happen. I have also been known to make lots of silly jokes and examples to help us break down an issue into something more manageable. Overall, I want therapy to be a safe place where you can tell me the latest work tea or we can jump into the depths of your childhood. You know, whatever feels right in the moment!
