Getting to know Hamid Dadkhah

I believe in the unique potential of each individual and value the opportunity to support clients as they define and pursue meaningful goals. Whether seeking to address a specific need or setting out on a journey of self-discovery, I strive to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed services to facilitate growth and change. With a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology from Adler University, I approach therapy as an active collaboration that benefits from open dialogue, mutual respect, and the courage to risk vulnerability through the development of authentic connections.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I see benefits of therapy arising from development of insight into how we understand our experiences and from application of strategies to manage day-to-day needs. I integrate concepts from Narrative and Existential therapy to support reflection on ways we think about and define our experiences, and I draw from CBT and DBT to build skills to more comfortably and effectively navigate life's challenges. I don't believe in a 'one-size-fits-all' approach and will actively engage you in defining specific applications and approaches that match your individual interests, strengths, comfort, and goals. I will likely encourage reflection on ways past experiences, key relationships, and broader sociocultural influences shape your understanding and perception of present needs, and I will incorporate a range of expressive, cognitive, behavioral, and somatic strategies in our work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I don't really embrace the idea of a 'typical' session as I value the autonomy of clients to shape services to meet their own individual needs. I encourage clients to define the focus of sessions and bring in topics of personal relevance, and I will recommend options and offer guidance as needed. For those unfamiliar with therapy or unsure how to proceed, I see my role as an educational resource and mirror to help steer you towards personally-relevant options.

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $165 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $145 for 55 minutes
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

I am in-network for PPO plans offered by BCBS, Anthem, Aetna, and Cigna. Please note that due to documentation and time requirements for confirming an initial appointment, Grey Area Therapy can not confirm appointment requested after noon on Fridays for the following week. As clients can book appointments through multiple platforms, availability listed on Zocdoc may not be up-to-date. If you select an appointment that has already been filled, we will email you at the address you provide to notify you of the need to select a different time or day. My practice offers complimentary benefits estimates prior to an initial session, and we always encourage new clients to also contact their insurance providers directly to confirm financial responsibilities. We always submit claims to insurance providers and wait for claims to process before invoicing clients for any remaining financial responsibilities.
