“Hannah is a really skilled couple's counselor. My wife and I went through a tough period late last year and she helped us remember how to accept and respect each other as individuals and commit to our shared goals and values as a couple and family. I truly didn't think it was possible, but now we're stronger than ever.”

Getting to know Hannah Newhall

I am a Mental Health Counselor (Limited Permit) dedicated to creating a warm, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. I take an integrative, trauma-informed approach, drawing from CBT and strengths-based practices, to help you build insight, deepen emotional awareness, and develop coping skills that truly fit your life. I especially enjoy working with individuals navigating life transitions, identity exploration, or high-pressure environments such as academics or athletics. My goal is to walk alongside you with empathy and curiosity, honoring your lived experiences while helping you reconnect with your sense of agency, resilience, and authentic self.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I strive to create a welcoming, collaborative space where you can show up exactly as you are. My approach is gentle, curious, and patient-centered—I move at your pace and work with you to understand what feels most supportive. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, build practical coping tools, and strengthen insights that help you feel more grounded and empowered in your daily life. You can expect sessions that are compassionate, validating, and focused on helping you reconnect with your strengths. My goal is for you to feel safe, respected, and genuinely supported as we navigate your healing and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, I take time to really get to know you—your story, your strengths, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll explore your goals together and begin identifying the patterns, emotions, or stressors that feel most important to address. I move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and I check in often to make sure the work feels supportive and aligned with your needs. A typical session is a mix of reflection, skill-building, and gentle exploration. I draw from CBT and strengths-based approaches, offering tools you can apply in daily life while also giving space for deeper emotional work when you’re ready. My goal is for each session to feel grounding, collaborative, and meaningful, helping you build insight, resilience, and confidence over time.

Hannah is a really skilled couple's counselor. My wife and I went through a tough period late last year and she helped us remember how to accept and respect each other as individuals and commit to our shared goals and values as a couple and family. I truly didn't think it was possible, but now we're stronger than ever.
Hannah is amazing! She showed me how to take control of my life again and to be a "main character not a side kick" in my own life. The perspective and skills that I learned working with her will serve me, and also my kids, the rest of my life.
Hannah was so helpful with teaching me really practical skills to manage my anxiety better. I use Cope Ahead and Check-the-Facts constantly and I just feel so much more confident going into unknown situations now. She made me feel like I wasn't crazy, I just needed some help understanding why my mind jumps to scary conclusions and how to manage it. Thanks Hannah!
Dating in the city was really getting to me and I felt like I kept ending up with men who were not ready to commit. Hannah really helped me to re-evaluate my priorities in dating, re-enforce my boundaries, and gain perspective on my dating habits. It took a few months to accept and shed my old patterns, but I feel so much more in control now and I've been seeking partnership from people who are much more respectful of my time and energy. It's night and day.
I was really struggling and hating where I was in life, especially since I'm still in my 20's. Hannah helped me figure out that my job was causing a lot of issues in my life. She helped me realize which aspects of my job I liked and which ones were making me miserable and then walked me through the process of finding a new career. She helped me with my job search and interviewing and I ended up landing a really cool job that I never would have allowed myself to consider before and I couldn't be more grateful. She actually turned my whole life around at age 27.
I've always been an anxious people pleaser and it got so bad I decided to try therapy. Hannah helped me understand how and why I developed these things during my childhood and she taught me to gently let go of a lot of the beliefs I had that were keeping me in that headspace. I understand my parents so much better and how to set boundaries with them while still spending quality time with them and honestly, our relationship is so much better now. I now get why they say everyone should try therapy. It really does help so much.
After not being accepted into any of the graduate programs I applied to, I felt like my entire identity collapsed. I sank into depression, had recurring suicidal thoughts, and felt completely lost about what to do after graduation. Hannah helped me accept what happened without seeing it as a failure of who I am. She guided me through identity exploration, helped me rediscover parts of myself beyond academics, and walked me through career exploration that actually felt empowering. Together we found a meaningful stepping stone job that aligns with my long term goals and strengthens my future applications. For the first time in months, I feel hopeful again.
Hannah has been the first therapist I felt genuinely safe opening up to. I was struggling with my mom’s disapproval of my substance use, and it created a lot of tension at home. Instead of judging me, Hannah helped me set realistic reduction goals and identify practical replacement behaviors that actually worked. She helped me understand my patterns without shaming me for them. The family sessions she facilitated were life changing. My mom finally understood me in ways she never had, and we communicate more openly now. I feel more in control of my choices and more connected to my family than I have in years.
Hannah was a lifeline for my son during one of the most difficult periods of his college career thus-far. This past semester, he was struggling with his BPD symptoms more than ever, including persistent suicidal ideation, and we nearly pulled him out of school. Fortunately, Hannah was able to work with him to on developing his DBT skills in a way that were actually relevant to his day-to-day life at school. She helped him understand his emotions, navigate intense social conflicts, and feel genuinely seen. She helped him develop a safety plan that he was able to communicate to us and help us all feel more secure. Her combination of warmth, steadiness, and knowledge gave him hope when he felt none. Because of her support, he built coping tools that allowed him to finish his semester against all odds. Our family is endlessly grateful for her expertise, compassion, and dedication.
I began therapy with Hannah after my depression worsened and I couldn't get over feeling like a failure after starting college. In high school I was a top student, but in college I could not keep up, and the shame led to constant procrastination and social isolation. I spiraled into depression and could not break the cycle. Hannah helped me rebuild a routine, practice mindfulness, and use CBT tools to challenge the thoughts that were keeping me stuck. She helped me reconnect with my sense of identity and capability. For the first time in a long time, I am performing better in my classes and actually feel proud of myself again.
Taking a leave from college made me feel like I had fallen completely behind my peers. Living at home, depressed and constantly comparing myself to others, led to suicidal thoughts I did not know how to manage. Hannah helped me build a routine that gave structure back to my days, reconnect with old friends, and practice vulnerability so those relationships could deepen and actually support me. She also helped me learn how to ask my family for help instead of shutting down. Working with her made me feel less ashamed, less alone, and more confident that I can return to school with a stronger foundation.
I was struggling academically because I felt judged by my classmates after overcoming a substance use disorder, and I also felt isolated because of my sexuality. Hannah helped me rebuild my confidence by practicing real interpersonal skills I could use with peers. She supported me in navigating social anxiety in class and helped me form healthier study habits that made school feel manageable again. Her compassion and practicality made me feel understood and capable. I am finally performing better in class and feel more connected to the people around me.
I came to Hannah after multiple relapses triggered by issues in my relationship and constantly feeling inadequate compared to my peers in college. She helped me identify the cognitive distortions driving my shame and addiction cycle, and for the first time I understood why I kept relapsing, not just that I was messing up. Hannah supported me in building healthier patterns, recognizing my triggers, and practicing self compassion. I am maintaining my sobriety now with far more stability and self understanding than I have ever had.
came to Hannah overwhelmed by workload, constant anxiety, and a strained relationship with my PI that left me paralyzed in my PhD progress. Hannah helped me break down years of avoidance patterns and taught me communication skills that completely changed how I interacted with my advisor. She guided me through tools to interrupt my spirals of overthinking and helped me rebuild a realistic and sustainable routine. For the first time in years, I felt capable instead of stuck. With her support, I finally set an actual date to defend my thesis this spring, something I did not think was possible. Hannah is compassionate, direct, and truly skilled at helping anxious students feel empowered again.
Hannah helped me understand my alcohol use in a way that felt compassionate and empowering instead of shaming. We explored how my family history shaped the dynamics I kept repeating with toxic partners, and she supported me in rebuilding my self respect and redefining what I want in relationships. With her help, I have maintained sobriety and started breaking the patterns that kept me stuck. I feel stronger and clearer about my worth than ever before.
After significant weight loss, I expected to feel confident, but instead I felt disconnected from myself and insecure in my relationship. Hannah helped me rediscover the parts of my identity that truly matter and reconnect with a sense of authenticity in my own body. She guided me in understanding my worth beyond appearance and helped me feel grounded and comfortable in my relationship again. I feel more like myself than I have in years. Thanks Hannah!
