“I had suffered from PTSD for years due to emotional abuse through childhood and adulthood from my parents. Being unaware of how quickly effective EMDR therapy could be, I went from feeling chest heaviness & stomach pains recalling certain memories, to feeling complete peace within minutes. It felt as though Hannah held my hand the entire way. She validated every feeling and every thought I had. I highly recommend Hannah for her compassion, professionalism, and true dedication to helping people. I will recommend her to anyone I meet who may need EMDR. ”

Getting to know Hannah Tishman

Hi! I'm Hannah, and I am not your typical therapist. I don't just listen and nod. My goal is to create a dynamic relationship where we can foster profound change and well-being together. I take a holistic approach and am dedicated to guiding my clients toward healing, resilience, and empowerment. With a deep-rooted passion for wellness, I seamlessly integrate various therapeutic modalities to create a personalized experience for each client. I will help you reprocess distressing memories and leave them in the past, allowing you to finally be free of suffering and symptoms that no longer serve you. My approach includes EMDR, IFS, somatic parts work, relational therapy, and mindfulness. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Columbia University and hold a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My philosophy is grounded in the belief that true healing goes beyond the mind and into the body. By embracing an eclectic approach and with specialized training, It's essential that I have a solid understanding of my client's life histories and attachment styles in order to create the most comprehensive treatment plan and therapeutic relationship together. I see clients in person on Tuesdays and the rest of the week virtually.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I take a thorough look at each client's environment, family, biological factors, and experiences from childhood to present day. I consider a strong therapeutic relationship to be the highest indicator of progress in therapy. Being able to be open with one another enhances the therapy process. In my practice, I provide a compassionate space where individually can explore the depths of their experiences, uncovering and transforming the roots of trauma and distress. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, PTSD, disordered eating, low self-esteem, or simply exploring personal growth, I am here to support you. I have advanced clinical training in AF- EMDR (Attachment-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy- Parnell Institute), trauma-informed therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and other modalities that inform the way that I practice therapy.

I had suffered from PTSD for years due to emotional abuse through childhood and adulthood from my parents. Hannah is an outstanding therapist who clearly cares about her job and her patients. She was always on time and easy to communicate with regarding scheduling and logistics. Hannah made me feel extremely comfortable in our sessions. I couldn't have asked for a better experience in therapy and would recommend her to anyone.
I've seen Hannah for more than four years now. To say she’s changed my life is an understatement. During our first appointment, I was so anxiety-ridden I couldn’t see an end in sight — I was in a dead-end job, had cyclical trends of dating the wrong guys, was riddled with control issues, and didn’t know what it meant to have or practice self love. My life has completely altered in the best way possible because of Hannah's guidance. I'm now in my dream job, have had a significant relationship with a man I loved, am way more comfortable with life’s grey areas, and dare I say, I’m VERY happy. Hannah’s approach has always been with kindness, gentleness and without judgment — I always feel comfortable saying even the most uncomfortable things in front of her. Hannah also has introduced me to perspectives I would’ve never been able to uncover on my own — she’s given me MANY “Eureka!” moments. I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone.
This was my first experience with EMDR therapy and Hannah was wonderful throughout our time working together. She offered guidance and encouragement throughout the process if I needed it since it was new to me. I learned a lot of new tools and resources to use through my work with Hannah and highly recommend her.
Hannah is a wonderful therapist. She has patience and the tools to help guide her patients into a calmer well being. Her EDMR experience is greatly valued. Couldn’t recommend enough!
Hannah was a wonderful person to talk to. She got to know my conflicts and was an easy listener. I am grateful for her support and will continue to see her! I would recommend anyone to see her as a patient.
I came to Hannah when I was having a really hard time navigating the disappointment of dating in NYC and having to put myself out there over and over again. I am SO glad I found Hannah. She was kind, warm, and I felt so comfortable opening up to her. She helped me explore the past and why parts of dating can be so triggering for me. I feel much more confident after meeting weekly. I'm starting to feel like I'll be ok.
Hannah is this really wonderful combination of professional and relatable. I felt like she was really invested in my well-being, and I felt safe being completely honest with her. She is attentive, affirming, and incredibly knowledgeable. I feel like she goes above and beyond compared to other providers I have experienced- she provides amazing insight, asks great questions, and is a valuable resource for tools that have proven to be really effective. If you are searching for someone, my suggestion is to give her a try. I searched for a really long time, and had consultations with tons of people but have felt a really genuine connection with Hannah! She is great!
Hannah is a well respected therapist in the field. She is knowledgable, kind, and empathetic. Hannah always takes the time to assess client needs and provide high quality care.
Hannah is an amazing therapist! She is organized, on time and detail-oriented. Hannah also is great for EMDR and has made such a positive impact on my life by facilitating that. I definitely recommend!
Hannah is the most patient and understanding therapist I have ever worked with. She has helped me grow immensely and I can't imagine working with anyone else.
