“I had put off starting therapy for years, in part because I felt so overwhelmed by the thought of finding a provider and figuring out who would accept my insurance. I thought the intake process would take forever and that I'd have to jump through hoops to start seeing a therapist and reaping the benefits. However, when I was finally ready, it only took about an hour to find a provider that felt like a good fit, and ZocDoc made it easy to see where my insurance would be accepted. Zocdoc profiles gave me a good idea of the values, perspectives, and professional experience my future therapist would bring to the table, and allowed me to feel safe and confident in my choice. I started seeing my therapist the next morning, and the entire process was far easier and more stress-free than I could have imagined. I was immediately able to get some things off my chest and to start building a foundation of trust where my therapist and I could start working on larger issues. ”

Getting to know Harleen Paul

I am a MHC-LP specializing in helping adults navigate anxiety, stress, grief, trauma, depression, and relationship issues using evidence-based, trauma-informed care. Deciding to start therapy can be one of the hardest and bravest steps to take, and I applaud you for doing so. Common reasons clients work with me: Racing thoughts and persistent overthinking Stress from work or school demands Feeling 'stuck' or disconnected in relationships Difficulty managing emotions during life transitions Struggling with processing grief and moving forward With training from TCS, I provide a non-judgmental, safe space where we can develop practical coping skills to help you regain emotional balance. My approach often integrates CBT, DBT, and Psychoanalytic Therapy, to help patients develop practical coping skills. I like to use a person-centered approach, meaning my priority will always be your welfare and health. As a South Asian woman, I also strive to create a safe space for South Asians as well, as cultural stigmas may often make it difficult to seek therapy. If you need someone to talk to in a judgement-free environment, I would be glad to work with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I like to cultivate an environment where my patients can lead the session with whatever they want to discuss or whichever goals they want to work on that week, as I provide them with guidance and clarity on their problems. The more you bring to therapy, the more you get out of it, so I encourage my patients to express themselves freely.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to start by getting to know you—what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and what feels most important in your life right now. From there, we set goals together and I provide guidance and strategies to support you along the way. Sessions are flexible and client-led, so you decide what to focus on each week while I help you explore, gain clarity, and move toward positive change. I also place a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity and offer sessions in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu to make therapy as accessible and comfortable as possible.
