Heather Alix, LPC

Psychotherapist
CT
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified School Counselor. I currently hold fifteen years of counseling experience between school and group practice settings. I have a compassionate approach in supporting clients. Through working with clients, I get to know each individual’s strengths, interests and what is important to them in order to establish an authentic therapeutic relationship. Opening up about vulnerable topics takes some courage and time. I am a strong believer in working at the client’s pace rather than rushing a meaningful process.

Getting to know Heather Alix

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified School Counselor. I currently hold fifteen years of counseling experience between school and group practice settings. Through working with clients, I get to know each individual’s strengths, interests and what is important to them in order to establish an authentic therapeutic relationship. What should a new client know about working with you?

I will be sending out initial intake forms before your first appointment takes place. These will need to be completed before your first visit. I will make it a priority to build a safe, confidential space, where you will find it easier to open up about whatever is on your mind such as challenges, concerns, or relationship issues you might be facing. Do you have concerns about your mental health? Having trouble concentrating, feeling anxious or depressed? Are you navigating a life transition and want to talk? Have you embarked on higher education and wish you had someone consistent to talk to? Are you embarking on a trade school education or headed into the workforce? Do you think it is time to adjust your major or career options and want support making the change? Over the years, I have watched many individuals grow as they access their strengths, find relief and enhance self-assurance to address their challenges. Let's work together so that you can attain relief and achieve your goals as well!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will collaborate with you by getting to know you and what is important to you. I'm available to respond to any questions or hesitations you may have. Mental health counseling is a shared process and I will pay attention to your needs from session to session. Emerging as a young adult in today’s world can be both an exciting and overwhelming period in life. Professionally speaking, I am knowledgeable about supporting high school graduation transitions for all students, but also as it relates to disabilities and section 504 accommodations. I value cultural diversity and have experience working with clients from many different backgrounds and origins, including English Language Learners. It would be my honor and pleasure to work with you while you navigate new steps. Let’s collaborate as you overcome difficulties and work toward achieving your goals.
