Heather Gerry, LPC

Psychotherapist
MI
My goal is to provide mental health treatment to children, teens, and adults who are suffering and seeking help. I offer an eclectic approach, allowing me to provide uniquely adapted treatment options tailored to each individual. My approach I utilize the DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) model, TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), other trauma-informed models, play-based models for young children, and narrative approaches suitable for many ages. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is essential, and success is a combined effort between the person seeking mental health assistance and the therapist. My focus I especially enjoy working with those experiencing trauma, stress, grief, and mood concerns. I also have experience supporting individuals in recovery from substance use disorders and work with a wide range of clients based on their needs. Christian or spiritual-based approaches are available for those interested. My communication style I provide a friendly, honest, and transparent communication style. I strive to ensure each individual feels heard and less alone in their struggles. Therapy can be challenging at times, but communication, honesty, and consistency are key to getting the most out of sessions with me. My journey to mental healthcare Since I was very young, I have witnessed many struggles with mental health and how it affects various areas of life, including relationships. I have also seen how physical health impacts emotional well-being. I find the field of psychology both interesting and informative, helping me better support others. Counseling allows me to apply what I’ve learned and experienced to assist those with their mental health needs. Education I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Cornerstone University. My goals for you Each person is unique, so goals and objectives should be tailored to the individual’s needs, working alongside the counselor’s goals and objectives.
